It is a French BB63500 diesel, in SBB (Swiss Railways) colours. It was one of a few which were used by SBB for trackwork trains during the 'Rail 2000' upgrading project. They do not have many diesels of their own, so had to hire some.

This locomotive is now on the CFV3V in Belgium. Caught me by surprise when I first saw it. http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

Surprise! I took it for a normal Bm 4/4 Diesel of the SBB. But then I noted the 'SNCB' Plate on the short nose.
In fact, I wonder if the French have ordered the BB63500 locos in Switzerland. (Built by SLM in Winterthur, I guess).

Hello Ron, Welcome http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

When I walked round a corner and saw the locomotive, I too thought it was a Bm4/4, and did not realise what ir was until I had taken the photographs.

I am only going by memory, but I think there was only a few of these hired by SBB, and used in the Brig area, I think.

I am pleased it is preserved in this livery http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif
