I know some of the major ones like Milw and BNSF and B&O and others but I would like a full list of what each railroad initial is and what does it stand for. If this is not the right place move it if you want. THANK YOU for your help guys. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

The ill feted SPSF merger should have meant "Shouldn't Paint So Fast" as both SP and ATSF painted locomotives and other equipment in the merger scheme only to have the ICC say NO.

Makes a person wonder what the US RR world would look like today. Considering mergers since then, and how what alignments might have happened otherwise.

NEW YORK CENTRAL & ST. LOUIS New Years Came; Stayed Too Long
Huh? I think you're confusing The New York Central and The New York, Chicago, & St. Louis, aka The Nickel Plate.

One pre-breakup Conrail cab ride video I've seen has the conductor calling the two companies involved 'Chessie Cat' and 'Nazi Southern.' Personally I still call it Cornrail. I once heard about a model railroad named 'The Nickel Norbash,' I use that one all the time. And then there's the 'Beano.'

For foreign power we get Beansniff's punkins and occasionally some yellow Youpers.

In at least several of the western states, Burlington Northern was, and always will be remembered as Bad News.

CSX......crime scene express.

Plus lots of controversey over the radio waves.. Like when things are extra screwed UP
you end yer' transmition with "Have a U-P day".....
