I would like to start modeling the reading reading (only partly prototypical), but I need more info. I haven't been able to dig up all that much info on the web so far. I have looked into buying a couple of books, but most are out of print :(. These cost an arm-and-a-leg to get a hold of.
Does anyone have any suggestions for books that I should concentrate on?

Go to http://kc.pennsyrr.com which is Jerry Britton's main website and check out his discussion groups. He runs one for the PRR, one for the Reading Company, and one for Conrail. Suggest you join the Reading discussion gruop and I am sure the members can point you in the right direction to find the information you need.

Morning Sun Books has several great all-color photo books for $50.00. I know that is not cheap but I own several Morning Sun Books and they are great. All photos extremely well reporduced, with detailed photo captions. The books will give you an idea as to loco paint schemes as well as related structures, rolling stock and what the country side looked like.
Books available are: Reading Company in Color (diesels), Reading Steam, and Reading Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment. I have several books by Jeremy Plant who wrote the first two books and I can tell you his stuff is very good. He also includes photos by ohter photographers as well to insure full coverage of the subject.
You can find them at: web page (http://www.morningsunbooks.com)

I recently aquired some Reading company litature from ebay on the cheap . They do have some Reading books pop up there and again and they ussually are not bid to high. For about $9 plus shipping I picked up a Reading history publication (about 64 pages) published by the company with some really great pictures from the 40's and 50's.
