P32ACDM - used in Empire State service with Amtrak, 3rd rail capable.
And what about the DL109/110?
C44-8W - this is an oddity, and technically is a C44-9W in a C40-8W carbody (no split cooling). 9000-9002 have this.
C40-9(W) - just a 4000 HP dash 9, rather than 4400, so it's not a "NS C44-9W"
And, I've never seen a CSX CW60AC with a "T" in the name. If you read under the cab, the unit ID is CW60AC. Where did you read this one?

Okay the NS C40-9/W are indeed derated C44-9W, NS derated them for fuel/maintance/prefernce reasons but they can be run at 4400 HP but to do so there are two keys that need to be turned, one by a maintance guy and the other by a motive power manager. (kinda reminds me of one of those nuclear missle movies smile.gif )
As for the AC6000CWT I have no idea what the "T" stands for but on some GE paperwork and info I got to see they had the T in the name, appernently CSX is overlooking the T just like they call there C44-8W "C44-9W".

Don't forget the first(?) GE diesel to run on North American rails ... the Ingersoll-Rand-GE box-cab switcher. I think it was numbered 1000, and used by the B&O starting in 1925, but I could be mistaken.
Of course GE had been making gas-electric cars since about 1905, but they were not locomotives in the strict sense.

There are also the "Big Blows," UP's gas-turbines built by GE.

The six axle ALCo list seems to be missing the ALCO DL-535, 1250HP engines as used on the WP & YR ?
Sorry if I missed something this is my first post to this list.

The RS12 was built by Baldwin. It was an upgraded version of the DRS-4-4-1000. Chessie, you also left out the RS10, basically an RS18 with an FA-2 engine.

The big difference between an RS10 and an RS18, the RS10 had the PacMan on the short hood where as the RS18's had the PacMan on the long hood.

Okay I really managed to screw the Alcos up on this one. I must have goten a brain fart because I ment to put those as RSD12 and 15 and 17.
Earilyier I had mentioned a RS28 and a RS32, these never really exsisted and what I ment to say was the RS27 and the RS36. (another brain fart  )

The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad website, http://www.arkansasmissouri-rr.com/ is showing one RS-32 on its active duty roster. I believe it's used almost daily, and has been for many years.
Also the WP&Y DL-535's don't look anything like the RS-12's that I remember seeing years ago, but I could be wrong on this last. Also the WP&Y runs on 3 foot guage if this makes a difference.

Yeah it does make a differnce. I had another "brain fart" (suprise suprise)the DL-535 is not a RSD12 I got confused with something else. Then on the RS-32 info you are correct. I checked my notes (something I should have done at the very begaining) and Conrail owned 23 RS-32 inherted from the NYC/PC. But still there is no RS-28

MT4 and MT6 are slugs, not locomotives, they don't count. ;)

My 2 cents. The 35 RS32s were built in 1961-62 for the NYC-25units and SP-10 units. You can also add in the FPA-2 and FPB-2s. These had a separate Alco DL # from the FA-2s and FB-2s.
Why did we start this thread?

Hank,
The Box Cab you were speaking of was not only ALCO, and Intersol-Rand, but General Electric was involved in it as well. It was B&O R.R. class,DE, road number 1 in 1925. In 1940 the class was changed to DS-1, road number to 195. Then in 1956 it was changed again to B&O R.R. class SA-1 road number 8000. It was scapped in 1959 and rescued from the torch, and now in the "National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis.
The very first one of these Box Cab switchers was C.N.W. road number 1000, and is now in the B&O Museum.
I have the history on both these loco's being that they were the first 2 made by ALCO, Intersol-Rand, and General Electric. I have a scale model of the DS-1 #195 as the B&O had it in 1940. A nice little old diesel/electric switcher... I thought the info on the B&O would be appreciated and as it was NOT the first one to be built but the second one the C.N.W. was the first.... :D
