A rare opportunity for rail photographers will occur at Salt Lake City during the 2002 winter olympics. Dallas will be sending 20 light rail cars to SLC for the event.
Dallas will not need these cars for service since they are recieving new cars for the extensions to Garland and Plano that won't open until later in 2002/2003.
Salt Lake will pay for shipping and will pay for Dallas mechanics to live in SLC to care for the cars. Dallas will be sending 2 cars this winter to make sure that the cars can withstand SLC winter conditions.
It will be interesting to compare the Yellow Kinki-Sharyo cars with the almost standard Siemens cars....
