late arrivals

Can anyone tell me if there is any compensation given by Amtrak for late arrivals. I as because my wife & I are planning an extended train trip and one of the legs is on the Sunset limited. I check arrivals of the trains we are iontending to ride and have noticed the Sunset Limited in particular has posted arrivals of anywhere from 6 to 17 hrs late. Right now all you get is a thank you for riding Amtrak sorry for the delay please ride us again. Come July 4th there is an unconditional guarantee so any passenger that is not happy or satified will be compensated by Amtrak. Which means freebies to vouchers for future travel. So if you travel after the 4th on the Sunset you will probably be able to get something out of Amtrak.

LOL-how long will this last, I am think until July 7th, when Amtrak is bankrupt.

It never hurts to contact customer service especially if the delay cost you money or missed attractions that you had paid for. The possibilities are anything from a refund to a voucher good for future travel. Reggie

The new service guarantee goes into effect on July 7th. I guess they want to get through the Holiday first. Reggie
