While the server at TrainWeb was down, it gave me a chance to scan some old photos.... I decided to start on my GP30 collection, since they are one of my favorite models:

This is a photo of the only ex-N&W model in the 500 series that I captured in NS paint.

Here's another decent shot... this time a GP30 paired to a GP35 (with AAR trucks):

This is a very interesting unit:

Clearly it appears to be a GP35, but numbered in the GP30 sequence.... anybody know why???
Visit my site for more NS, Southern, and N&W (listed as "Foreign Power") GP30 photos!

GP30 2526 was one of two GP30`s wrecked in 1965 and rebuilt with GP35 style carbodies. The other one was 2641

Nice pics. I do not know much about the Southern GP30's. I couldn't tell from the photo's but were they dynamic brake equipped? The shadow and the black paint made it hard to tell.

Good question! All of the (ex-) Southern GP30's were equipped with dynamic brakes.

Here's a shot from my latest round of updates that is an overhead shot that shows the rooftop fans, including the dynamic brake fan:
