This is the highest # unit I have seen painted in "recent" times, note the photo is a couple of weeks old:

That's the highest # I've seen (that I haven't photographed). It's possible I've seen others in the 96xx series in black, but all the ones that I have photographed in that series were still in primer.

Awful convenient parking job for you, Harold. :cool:

I feel like I lucked out on that one. I have seen some 95xx series units in black, but most were still in primer, including 9595. That is my only 96xx unit (so far ;) ). Convenient parking too :D

Another thing that cracked me up was that while this unit was sitting idle, another Dash 9 was switching the yard tracks.... I still can't get used to that concept :eek:

No, the 9685 is a recent NS Dash 9-40CW delivery from GE and it was painted by NS at its paint shop in Chattanooga, TN.
