Greensboro, N.C. today

I rolled through Greensboro this morning in time to catch some big NS action. In fact, one train was leaving the yard and had 10 GE NS units on the point! Here are the road numbers: 8975, 8671, 8571, 8334, 8656, 8785, 8620, 8740, 8506, and 9433. Now, just to let you know, only 4 (Yes, that's right, 4) of those engines were actually pulling. FRA regulations state that no more than 24 powered axles may be applied to a train (exceptions for helpers & DPU). In all cases, this was a power move, but a cool lashup either way. I see what appears to be a C39-8, as well as a bunch of Catfish.

Geez, that must be a heck of a train (weight wise) when you are pulling 6 GE's at ~ 400,000 each dead in tow, plus all of those hoppers http://www.trainboard.com/redface.gif

I saw some of those units (most of em actually) in Selma Monday night. They were headed to Raleigh. Must have gone on to Pamona from there. This was about 11 p.m.
