Does anybody know if UP has repainted or even kept these units?I am specifically interested in the ones rebuilt from the EL/CR SDP-45 units.

Yes, UP has kept the former SP SD40M-2 units, has patched and repainted a few, and a friend recently reported seeing one of the ones rebuilt from EL/CR SD45M's in UP paint.

I saw one of the SDP45s yesterday leading a manifest train eastbound through Pomona. Looked great and was in SP speed lettering. Unfortunately I was only able to catch a glimpse of it by looking down a residential street and was not able to get a number, but the rear end section made it easy to identify the unit.
