I model H O Western U S.1970 +, I recently purchased an Atlas U23 unnumbered on Ebay.
This is a very interesting site, and I am pleased to be a part of it.

Thanks Jim,
I can now put a # on this little beauty, Atlas are getting better all the time, I also have 6 GP 40's [new version]I usually only buy Kato ,but the new Atlas are very good, they run excellent.
Does anybody have any new GP38's ? and how are they ?
Doug.

UP never had U23B's. What U23B's did show up in UP paint came from MP. The WP U23B's were traded into GE for super 7 series rebuilds before they were repainted into UP. Although UP did have a set of numbers set aside for them. The U30B's were of WP, were retired before a number block was assigned to them. The U23B's were sold off or retired before all could be repainted. A few do survive on a short line on the Michigan Central last I heard. Even one of the U23B's that received a Mop spartan cab made it to MC. Hope that helps. The B23-7's are still running around from the MP and are mostly running in Texas.

Doug,
After rereading my post I see I should clarify the U23B disposition. The WP U23B's lease expired and UP returned them to their lessor who then returned them to GE. The UP didn't get super-7 series engines for them, but they were rebuilt and then moved on to the Monongahela Railway in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
