CN 5672 leads a lashup of 5 locos as the train blasts through Lake Louise. The sound of the horn echos through the mountains and it sends shivers down ones spine. This level crossing is near the campground.

5672 is an SD751, class GF-643 and was built in 1996. It is unusual to see CN on this line as they normally use the more northerly line through Jasper.
Here is Lake Louise a short distance from the track.

Thanks for adding the picture of the lake, Robin http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif I have seen pictures from this area, as a friend has a sister living in Calgary, and visits the Rockies regularly.

Must get over to see this absolutely beautiful area ourselves! http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

Beautiful pictures!!! I can just imagine standing next to the tracks, listening to the horn blow, feeling the ground shake, and exchanging waves with the crew!
I love the lake picture. It could be on a calender too. GREAT SHOTS http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

This is the CPR mainline Drew and traffic is quite heavy with trains coming through about once every two hours or thereabouts. All CP. As I said, it was unusual to see a CN train coming through the kicking horse pass. CN uses the yellowhead pass further North passing through Jasper. The picture shows the train eastbound. It had come up from Field through the spiral tunnels. A grade of 2.2%. Great train watching areas.

The camera is loaded but it is too cold to go and wait for trains to pass through. I hear them often enough but not able to get to the track quick enough. This summer I am trekking to Mission BC again and will take as many pictures as possible. Will follow CP through the Kicking Horse pass and on to the Fraser canyon where both CP and CN go through. They are sharing these days with both west bound CP and CN using the tracks on one side and east bound using the track on the other side.
On our way home we will follow the Yellowhead pass and see CN in action through Jasper
