At least on one occasion I suggested going to photopoint.com to view other CN pics related to the discussion and I never passed on the link....

There are a few. Not always the greatest shots but sometimes I get a bit tired of the "down East" main line stuff. CN was a lot of short lines as well and that's what I like to model with the WVRR.

Very interesting photographs!

I have always loved the look of GMD1's, although I never saw any 'in the flesh'. I notice that the cabs are black on the sides, but the front and back are orange, which is different from other locomotives I have seen. Is this significant?

I have a few GMD-1 pictures I took during my years in Moose Jaw SK and there is a variety of paint jobs,

(a)1052 - grn/yel

(b)1048,1057 - blk, red ends, wht frame and wet noodle.

(c)1006,1013,1078 - blk, red ends and short hood, yel frame and wet noodle. 1078 has no spark arrestors.

(d)as well as those shown.

I expect the sgt stripes were an attempt to bring the GMD-1s into line with the rest of the fleet just before head office decided there were people in the world that didn't know what a CN locomotive looked like. Now the GREAT design is gone http://www.trainboard.com/frown.gif and so maybe the GMD-1s will revert back to (c) but with one wht stripe.
