Hello all, i am in search of a photo of a sublettered BNSF SD-9. I have seen those such as 6131 and 6136 but i have a delima. These units already sublettered are of C&S heritage and have the lower height long hood. I am in the process of building one of these units but prefer to find one of GN or CB&Q heritage to better reflect the prototype if possible. I am in no way ready to make the modification to my unit to look more C&S like.

There's a low nose at http://archive.trainpix.com/BNSF/ It's unit 6147. Ex B&O... I always thought the nose was higher not that the long hood was lowered. Anyone know which?

Got a link for you: http://billsgburgjrnl.stimpsoft.com/ I was just there last night and saw one of those low-nose SD9's in a picture from the bridge over the yard at Galesburg. It's a great website so look through the whole place. I can't recall where in the site the photo is, but it's there! http://www.trainboard.com/cool.gif I don't recall if he has any Hi-Hood SD9's on it, he may. HAVE FUN! Bill's kinda' wacky!

Are the C&S units Phase IV units, with the taller, late GP/SD battery boxes, which make the cab and nose sit higher? If that's the case, and you're modeling HO, modifying it wouldn't be extremely tough, especially if you're using a P2k SD9 as a starting point. Cannon's "35 Line" Sub-base and battery boxes could be used with slight mods, and the way the P2k SD9 comes apart would make the whole job a little easier. N-scale might be a little tougher....but regardless, I'll keep my eyes open for any former CB&Q or GN units that you'd prefer.
