Last week I attended the "Dunsmuir fall colors railfair". my first train to pull through town was a surprise! A 7-unit consist: Four dash-9's in four paint schemes (both heritage's with small and large lettering, and a great pumpkin) a Montana Rail Link SD45-2, a BN SD40-2 and an ATSF blue bonnett four axel GE unit. I have pics on my web site (go to home, click "What's New?"...BNSF in Dunsmuir) Here is the GE unit, can you tell me what it is? thanks

Y, yes i know what it is! Originally as it was delivered as a Santa Fe Dash 840B. It is identical to the 500 Dash 840BW with the only exception being that the BW`s are all wide cab units and were painted in the classic Red and Silver Warbonnet. Since i believe that your road of choice is.....Was the SP i think an SP comparison is in order. These units are equivillent to the SP 8000 class B39-8`s. I hope this helps

Oh, i forgot to mention. As Santa Fe units they wore unit numbers 7410 thru 7449. You will also see them listed as B40-8

Espee2,
Look at the topic BNSF Power on UP and that should answer your question

When we were over there, the B40-8's were all still numbered inthe 7400's. I rather like these units, but then, I have aliking for all GE's http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif
The MRL unit looks great too.
