I was wondering about these units but i saw 2 of em at the BNSF engine facility so i guess they still do exist! http://www.trainboard.com/wink.gif

Years ago they weren't uncommon around here but now they are pretty rare around Denver.

There were also a lot more units at the facility then usual.

They are still around they visit Galesburg about twice a week. But I heard that their days are numbered And BNSF is about ready to sell three of them to a short line railroad. There lease is up either at the end of this year or next. So they will be going bye bye.

One note about the two i saw, they were so faded... I guess 10 years will do that.

I wouldn't mind doing a couple of these in HO but i think i'll wait till a good model comes out...

I assume you don't like the ones Walthers put out? I think there good model for the price. Or you can paint and detail your own Rail Power shell.

When we were over in southern California in 1988, we saw several LMX's and some of those looked a bit jaded http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

I guess i could use a Walthers model, but i'm not sure how good it is... http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

Dusty gray LMXs... Sounds like the makings of a great model~ http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

I heard that the walthers models are good to a point. They can pull a lot of cars but the motors are a little noisy. They do make an LMX model. Or paint a Rail Power shell. I think it would be a great model. Either way you would go.

From what i remember, the first run had a problem with wobbly drives and i deal with enough problems with Athearn drives i don't really need another problem! I think they fixed that on the second run, but i don't know how to tell the difference...

I wouldn't mind some B30-7As either, but i need somewhere for them to run first! http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

Well today i was zipping around town at different rail watching spots and happened to see this-

It was the only good photo i could get as i was shooting into the light. I took others but they aren't too good.
