I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me I just wanted to confirm it. I was standing at trackside and seen a SD60M with the horizontal headlights above the windshield removed and replaced with a nose light instead. These are the phase 2 units. The only thing is I haven't seen anymore! http://www.trainboard.com/confused.gif

That sounds about right, since BNSF has been removing high-mounted headlights and moving them to a nose mounted location. Your sighting is the first I've heard of it being done to a supercab unit.

There are 2 SD60Ms in town and while i couldn't get pics today i'll try to get em tomorrow...
I spotted SD9 6112 today as well, painted in the Heritage 1 scheme. This is the first SD9 i've seen firsthand in this paint. It appeared that 4 units, 2 SD/GPs ? were lined up next to 2 SD9s at the shop buildings so i'm gonna see if they get repainted as well. I'm not sure if Denver has painting capabilites though.

Another Galesburghead! YIPPEE! I'll be heading up there again soon. I have to go to the "Bridge Alter" and worship sometime! Ever go over to Burlington? Go too Big Muddies and eat! It's part of the "Ritual" when I head that way. Edelstine, Galesburg, Cameron and then Burlington. God I love railfanning this area!

When you come over Hope your lucky to see the ICE train. BNSF just added another train to this schedule so now I have 2 running through here Only thing is there running times are sporadic I have seen them through here from afternoon to late at night. They use the Mendota sub(former BN line) and go to Cameron Connection crossover to the Chillecothe Sub(Former ATSF). I usually go to Burlington sometimes but I so much fun here in Galesburg.

Harold Riley (sd75mac on trainboard) had some photos of an SD60M with the nose lights on his site at www.phcomputing.com (http://www.phcomputing.com)
You might want to Email him as I couldn't find the photo.

Thank God! I am not crazy after all. http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif I guess the BNSF is going to have nose lights on everything now and I guees they started with the SD60M'S. Any body see if the 9299 had it too I did not check and see if that one was done too.

The pics at Qstation.org don't have the nose lights, but that version of the H2 is slightly different. The sill stripe being yellow messes it up IMO... Also the ditch lights are green, as are the front handrails. I hope this isn't how all the H2 repaints look. http://www.trainboard.com/eek.gif

Later i was comparing the photos, and it looks like 9299 has the Dash 9 version of the H2 with the 3 stripes on the bottom. But i don't know where the sill stripe came from...

I just checked all of my photos of phase 2 SD60M's and found I have two with nose lights. You can see them at my website, the BNSF Motive Power Archive http://www.trainweb.org/bnsfmpa

I did not notice it before but in opinion that extra yellow stripe on the 9299 is ugly, I mean it has way to much yellow on it.

I saw 9299 in person and yes, that extra yellow stipe takes away from the rest of the locomotive. I didn't notice if it had the nose lights though I think it still had them mounted above the wind sheild.

What was that website again. I wanted see what everyone is talking about on the stripe.
I am unfamilar with this on this locomotive. I seen in Qstation the SD60M painted in the H1 scheme. But did not find the 9299 website. page.

I have been noticing lately that the SD60M's with three window windshields have been losing their "Burlington Northern" from the battery box doors, but they are not being relettered BNSF. Has anyone else noticed this? And yes, I have seen Ph. 2 units with lowered headlights. Dad and I liken this to a lobotomy. Poor things!

Jack, the link you requested- http://www.qstation.org/1991/
And guess what, i saw one of these SD60Ms with the nose lights at the 38th Street engine facility this morning. I couldn't clearly make out the number but i'm pretty sure it was 927?...

Thanks for the web site. I was going though the qstation website and found one painted in the heritage 1 scheme. Maybe one of these days they decide on the paint scheme they want to use. Everything old is getting H1 and everything new is getting the H2. Not totally true exception is SD60M.
Now I think everything is getting the low nose lights put on it. I am seeing a lot of stuff run though here with the low noses lights. Especally exBN stuff.

I saw my first SD60M ever the other day coming off the BNSF Stevens Pass line about 5 miles out of Everett. I almost craped my pants I was so excited :excited:, It was a long ways away but I could tell the lead loco was a SD60M because of the huge white stripes on the side of the cab, it was one of the phase two units, unfortanitly I could not see the nose light from a half mile away and my GF would have gotten mad had I decided to go chase a train and never made it her house http://www.trainboard.com/rolleyes.gif!
