I have been reading that the SD70MACs are pushing the SD60Ms out of coal service and into regular freight. I saw evidence of this in Dilworth on May 13 with a C44-9W and an SD60M on a west bound stack train. I have yet to see the predicted DPU on the nothern corridor. I have also heard of planned DPU on the former Milwaukee main through Aberdeen in northern South Dakota. Has anyone seen any DPU in these areas yet?

I have read the 60's have had their maintenance shop transferred to an ex-SF shop in California. As for DPU ops inyour area, I wish I could report on that for you but it's a bit far from here. http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

BTW, have you looked at the NG & Shortlines forum for a reply pointed to you?

Some, not all, of the BN SD60M's, mostly the 2-window cab versions, have been transferred to the new BNSF Diesel Facility in Commerce, Ca. (nice shop, BTW!) The SD60M's are quite common out here in SoCal. I've even seen BN 1991 a few times in her tattered, but still nice looking Desert Storm paint; too bad she was just repainted in H2. I can't comment on DPU operations in your neck of the woods, but here in SoCal DPU operations are fairly common, long stack trains coming out from the harbor usually have 1-2 DPU helpers on the rear.
