I'd like to know what these aluminum cans are used for. I have seen many of them in piles along the local CSX right-of-way. http://www.railimages.com/album/Patrick%20Miller/cans.JPG

I believe they are empty rail spike containers. Cans just like those were being collected on buggies trailing and hooked to the spike insertion machine when the CSX tie/ballast crew came through five or so years ago.

Yes, Those are Spike buckets.. they're about the size of a 5 gallon bucket.... I've seen plenty of them.... As I live with in 150 feet of the CSX "Sand Patch" mainline!

If posted correctly, this should be my 2000th posting in train board! :D

Pat,
It seemed like it took forever to get to 1000, let alone 2000 and at 300 plus, its going to be awhile! You got quite aways to go too 1000, let alone 2000! But make everyone count. I try my best to!

the numbers don't matter, it's the people you meet and the places you go, with out even leaving your computer. smile.gif

Good thought, Pat. Numbers are interesting, but people are important. (Somebody should convince a few CEOs of that.)
