Cool. 0-6-0 Camelback, my fav! Very few roads had these, I believe that Reading owned the most. The cabs were moved to the middle for better visibility for switching ops (And also to get out of the way of that huge firebox out back. The huge firebox was designed to operate on the cheaper coal available back then (to save monies of course) The Camelback is an offshoot of the "Mother Hubbard" Locomotive. Now if anyone has a pick of an 0-4-0 Mother Hubbard, that is a weird looking loco!!

Thanks for sharing that pic!

Sorry, I almost forgot, here is a link to a page with the complete history (Or at least a better one then I have explained) of the camelback including the story of the Wooten Firebox.

With the weather in the Northeast hovering close to the zero mark, I wonder if this cab arrangement kept the crew any warmer. That would be one heck of a steam radiator.

That was rather interesting. I always wounder why those locos were disigned like that.

That was a great explanation! I wondered about those locos and remember seeing cheap models of them in HO when I was a kid, but never knew anything about the prototype.
