Watash, Long time no see pictures of real engines. How about we do some "Pretty" engines? I shot this one of N&W 611 at Appomatox, Va. in Sept. 1993. http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr/611a.jpg

FriscoBob, ask and you shall receive, especially the day before Thanksgiving. I have some of 844 in two tone grey, but they are of poor quality. Half of your nominees are here--4449 at Railfair 99, Sacramento.

For me , the prettiest engine is a NKP or Pere Marquette Berk, altho' a DL & W 1600 class 4-8-4 would run the Berk close.

Looks like there is little interest in pretty steam engines. Just as a matter of info, all of the above images I posted can be viewed on my newly overhauled website. Same old stuff, different, hopefully more user friendly format. Some pages are yet to be done and are under construction. Some may show up "bad order" if I'm working on them. http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr

Hello Boys!
http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif Im gonna step in it... http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif
Yes, all those are beautiful engines, but there is nothing, and I mean nothing as beautiful, gracious, heroic, handsome, and awesome as...

If I could figure out just how to put a picture of this magnificent engine on here, I'd do it!
Sorry, but not one steamer comes close to playing in this ladies league!

<marquee>MODERATOR DISCLAIMER</marquee>
As moderator on this board, I feel I must take a position of neutrality (1522), and remain above the fray (Coonskin Power!),
so officially I have no feelings either way
Ship IT on the FRISCO!) about this statement on 1522 (truly God's own steamer).
Thank you.

Well, seeing I have a Coonskin lapel pin, which by the way means I own a rivet or two of 1522, I MUST AGREE! <marquee>1522 IS THE QUEEN OF STEAM!</marquee>I'd like to add, I have a nice 8X12 of this Beauty hanging on the wall of my bedroom. Question ya'll,I guess diesels are out, huh. But If they arent,I think the E-6,7 & 8's
are some pretty engines, but with my opinion
and a 1.50, you can get a cup of coffee
(small).

With so many Frisco fan replies on this post, I can't believe no one has mentioned the 4500 Class. http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif Frisco's finest; 4-8-4's weighing in at 405 tons (probably more loaded). Here's a shot of the 4501 in Dallas at the Age of Steam Museum.

But I have to say, the 4449 and the 611 are really the queens of West and East. I own the Bachmann versions of both. http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

It's all subjective, but to me the prettiest engine around is D16sb 1223 of the PRR residing on the Strasburg. PRR really knew how to paint passenger power back then. Another favorite still extant is Bonhomie & Hattiesburg Southern 250, just about the handsomest Prairie ever built.
