Here's a simple trick, courtesy of Randy Lee of Model Railroading magazine, to assist in taking outside shots of your models in sunlight. The bounce option could also be used with inside lighting as well.
"I made a portable screen/light bounce from a piece of white nylon (ripstop preferred). The frame is made from 4 pieces of PVC (about 30" each) and 4 PVC elbows and can be broken down in seconds. I had my wife sew pockets on two ends of the nylon into which a piece of the PVC is inserted. The elbows are then placed on the other two pieces and those are then attached to stretch the nylon taut. It can then be used either to diffuse the sunlight coming through it or to bounce the light from a different angle."
