Just received Zing's note today regarding their shut down on July 2, 2001 (see http://www.zing.com/).

It's getting harder to find a free site for posting pictures to TrainBoard.

Ofoto (http://www.ofoto.com) and WebPhotos ( http://www.webphotos.com) seem to be the best bets. Can anyone suggest others?

I am staying with PhotoPoint, even though they are no longer a free site. I have found they best fulfill my on-line photo needs.

You might also want to check this out. It is a good evaluation of many sites: "Guide to Free Online Photo Albums." Its last update was June 14th.

There have also been some other good suggestions posted in other fora on this board.

I have decided to use PBase (www.PBase.com) for the immediate future; it is run by an individual in the USA on a non commercial basis (as far as I can make out) and there are no adverts popping up all the time.

You cannot actually make your images appear in your posting on Trainboard because it uses too much bandwidth to do so, but you simply type in a link according to a particular formula and one click on the link brings up the image for viewing.

I would be interested to hear of any former Photopoint or Zing users' current experiences with and thoughts on other image hosting services.

Well hopefully very soon trainboard members will be able to load pictures directly to the trainboard server rather than having to find a site.

Stay tuned for an announcement in the not too distant future.

A friend of mine found a site very similar to zing.

Try it. I like it. It does show the ad with the picture but it's free.FOTANGO (http://www.fotango.com)
