Here is another pic. i tried to get the inside detail of the cab. The detail in the cab is well done. You can see the open boiler.

Greg .. I have one of these Shays too, only mine arrived with the whistle broken off and was found laying in the bottom of the box! :(

Did you have to take yours all apart to paint it? If so, how difficult was it to get all those little parts of the drive back together? You did a real nice job of it!

Hi Ironhorseman, thats the pits when something is broken, luckily mine was packed good, for it was shipped ground, a bomb wouldn't have hurt it ;) Came in a box surrounded by peanuts, which our cats spread out all over the house
i ordered the engine prepainted smile.gif now all i have to do is put my own decals on and weather it. i will still have to take it apart to put a decoder in :( that should be fun. i'm thinking of using an N scale decoder.

Yeah .. mine was packed pretty well as well. The odd thing is the box was sealed with a clear plastic wrap, and the locomotive was wrapped in a clear plastic wrap too, but the whistle was found outside the wrap, suggesting that it was broken during the initial packing at the factory.
I used to repair parking meters for a living. I'm looking forward to the challange of reassembling the Shay after painting. ;)

If those are Bachmann engines, have you tried to run them yet? Does all the valve motion work, or just the drive shafts? Any of it metal? I'm curious, because I have a kit, but your engines are much newer, and I am guessing plastic.

Hi Watash, it's the same shay as mine from Bachmann, mine runs like a top notch brass shay, all drive shafts work along with the side piston valve gear. Very quiet, and pulling power is great.
