Inkjet printers

Your opinion and experience - which inkjet printers have you found best buys? Which are best for printing both B&W and color photos?

I use an Epson Stylus 760. From what I hear, it's the choice in it's price range for photo-realistic printing. I have printed a couple of things myself on this printer with good results on semi-gloss, and have seen a print on A4 photographic paper direct from a digital camera's image and had to ask if it was an enlargement.

My trusty, ole HP 722C (that I have had for 2 years + now) does a great job of printing high res color photos on photo paper...so good, that I have fooled many people into thinking that the shots were taken with a medium or large format camera (when in fact, they were taken on my digital and printed at home!)

I use an Epson Stylus 740, with great results, not that I do a lot of quality printing. But it will print great photos. on glossy paper.

My printer is an old Canon BJC-4300ex and the results have been satisfactory. With a photo cartridge and the gloss paper the quality is hard to beat. Price was low too.

I use the HP 812C, same as the 722. I make all kinds of signs, and number boards from the printer when used with white led's are far better than decal number boards... easier to apply too!

Epson 860. I retired my old Canon to use with the computer that we take to NMRA meets and replaced it with the Epson. The quality is outstanding even without using the Photo Paper. I ran off three photos on plain Inkjet paper and inserted them in a page protector sheet. You had to look twice to see that they were printed and not photos.

However, the biggest selling point to me is the black ink doesn't run like most other inkjet printers when it gets wet. Did you ever see an envelope addressed with an inkjet when it had been rained on. Ugly. Very Ugly. Really Bad. :)

I now use a HP 820Cse Inkjet as my document printer and have started to look for a photo printer since I now have a photo scanner attached to my system. One of our pro photograpers at work highly recommends the EPSON Stylus Photo 870 or 1270. So, all I need to do now is decide if the $200 extra dollars for the 1270 is what I want to do http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif.

B&W and color looks like a Kodac photo.

Hewlett-Packard Desk Jet 880C. does an exceptional job with just about anything. fine with decals.

Alan, I leaned over and sure enough, I have the EXACT same printer as you! Like the old saying goes, "Great minds think alike!" http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

It is a really good printer, but sometimes I get lines running through my pictures. Oh well.

I have a three year old Epson Stylus Color 600 that's served me well. I also have a Brother HL-1240 laser for those big printing jobs (Like school papers, UGH!), and from what I'm told it can also do decals, although only in black.
