I recently got my first On3 model, the new K-27 by MMI. It's a hefty all-metall model that - in my opinion - really looks great. However, I have no comparison as far as detailing is concerned, as I usually do H0 and some N scale. So I wonder whether there is someone on this board who can give an assessment as to how this model compares to other On3 models.
Two things struck me as rather negative:
1: There is no rear coupler on the tender. This means one has to get a Kadee one which sure is functional, but on a static display a more prototypical coupler would be preferable.
2: The newest fad is "sound", but I am not convinced about its quality. Too much "scratching" here!
The model arrived extremely well padded. Nevertheless, there were two bent parts when I unwrapped it.
