Want to know where the world's greatest narrow gauge model railroad prototype is? Check out http://groups.msn.com/kiwirail Every prototypical justification you need for anything you want to do on a model layout smile.gif Spiral mainline, vertical scenery, viaducts plunging into tunnels. Heavy freight and passenger, alongside bush tramways. Steam and diesel sharing right up to 1971. Pre WW1 electrics....

Welcome KiwiRail. I agree, NZ railroading is a fasinating subject. I really like the old EE cab units, can't remember the designation for them. Nice web page too. Is that you next to the engine?

Hey Kiwirail, welcome to the TrainBoard!

Come by often!

Beautiful place to live looks like!

(How is the cost of living down there for an old retired duffer and one foxy lady, compared to here in the U.S.?) Heh heh :D

hi guys

thanks for the kind words. sorry to take so long to reply - I'm not a regular web surfer smile.gif

NZ is pretty cheap vs USA, especially if you are retired ie it is great to live on NZ dollars so long as you aren't earning them! they are worth about US0.56c right now I think and that is a record high. In the Napier TrainWorld (photos posted to my website) I met an old bloke from the US who comes out every year with his wife to help out at trainWorld and just enjoy the Napier sun during the Northern winter.

Come see. I'm thinking I might enjoy organising a rail-oriented tour one day.

And if you can't, you could always create a little bit of NZ in your basement, as I just started doing

cheers
Rob
