View Full Version : WP Railshops Out of Business?

While I hate to say anything disparaging about any business, WP Railshops has many customers/victims that are still waiting for products or a refund. When I went to their web site today it said:
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>This site has been disabled because the owner has not paid his/her hosting fees.
If you are the owner of this site, please see your account control panel or e-mail billing@lfchosting.com for more information.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
It appears that if we are to have any chance at getting our products or refunds, we are going to need to act quickly. Complaints can be made with the Alberta Better Business Bureau edmbbb@telusplanet.net AND the US Postal Inspectors (http://www.framed.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/welcome.htm).

I had high hopes for their products, but after they cashed my money order in February, and now they won't respond to any of my messages demanding product or a refund, I feel that I must warn off any other potential victims.

Nope. I think you're thinking of Roundhouse. WP Railshops has so far been nothing but electrons and vapor.

These aren't repainted Intermountain cars?

You may be thinking of the posts in the "Free Kato Engine" posts a while back. WP Railshops is not PWRS or Pacific Western Rail Shops.

WP Railshops claimed to sell unpainted resin shells, but I've yet to find anyone who actually received one from them, but too many people who sent him money for one.

I just got a letter from the Alberta Better Business Bureau. Apparently WP Railshops declined to answer their inquiry in my behalf. They have amassed a growing file of complaints against them, and apparently the RCMP is involved now too. Since my purchase was with a postal money order and sent by US Mail, the Postmaster General is involved and have forwarded information to the Canadian post. Even if WP Railshops was still in business, I wouldn't throw them (Shawn) any more money

I use to own WP Railshops until I sold it to a couple of investors at the beginning of 2000. I worked for them as an employee for six months until I found out they were drug dealers laundering money through WP Railshops Inc. (Alberta 863655 LTD). They went bankrupt after I left and the Bank took almost everything back and they resold it to me last month. I want to tell
all the customers that got screwed over by WP Railshops Inc. that I will try my best to replace products that were not shipped to them.

Sincerely, Shaun Teierle

WP Railshops got my money in February 2000 and I never saw anything from it. I had postal inspectors, RCMP, and the Alberta Better Business Bureau on the case. I had several other modelers come forward with their issues, and now alomost a year later we see this post on the N_Scale_Stuff list. I've sent Shawn an email, as well as forwarded his message to the authorities I mentioned above.

If he truly has got his stuff together, I'll be the first to let everyone know, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have had no dealings with Shaun or WP Railshops.
FWIW he has posted his version of what transpired at this page on his website (updated 6/22/2001):

http://www.prototypemodels.ca/news.htm

I am neither supporting nor criticizing Shaun over what happened in the past, just posting a link. You are all free to form your own opinions and draw your own conclusions. (Please don't shoot the messenger).

I swapped a couple emails with the guy on my order from a year and a half ago, and all he does is bring up the drug dealers again. I told him he could square up with me by shipping me some of the items he lists on his web site as being in stock. Never heard from him again! I turned the information over to the Better Business Bureau in his area, and he is refusing to cooperate with them either. A rose by any other name... But then I can't call this a rose of a deal. Maybe a crook by any other name... I would certainly recommend against any dealings with Prototype Models (WP Railshops).
