I just wanted to say that the friendships and just general good times on trainboard are great. Trainboard folks are wonderful!
Case in point:
I was chatting up a storm in the forum about how I only was able to purchase one of the GM&O GP38's from Atlas when they came out. A major regret as there was a matched pair in my LHS. I should have snapped up both.
A few days later, out of nowhere, i get an email from someone saying he has the shell and is willing to basically give it to me for trade of another shell. Yes YES YESSSS!!! This is great. It made my day. I happen to have three shells for Gp 38's he can have for repainting his fleet. It's amazing what a good trade will do for your attitude.
As for my fleet... My ICG custom job and two factory painted GM&O's are gonna look really sweet sometime soon.
I just had to share. Some people are shy and don't want to get too much attnetion so I won't mention names just yet, but thanks so much for making my dreary week better.

Yep, there sure are some great folks hereabouts. Even those who don't quite get enough oxygen...

I also had a similar experience recently where I posted I wanted to buy Mopac rollingstock, i received a message from a member who offered to send me a car as he had a duplicate. It just goes to show what great members we have here.

Trainboard is the place to be! I have had similar experiences, such as a trade for SD45 shells for SD40 shells from Keith, a straight trade of a BN SD60 shell for my Oakway SD60 shell. And so on, and so forth. I have learned so much over the years here, and am glad to share when I can. Generally, the masters like Russ, Pete, John W and many others answer the questions better than I can, but I still learn something new every day.

Thanks for the pic. Does your friend have a website? No, not too much into trains these day. 15 years ago he was kind of my N scale mentor and brought me up to speed on the state of the art in the N scale world and helped me get going on the Sugar Land modules. He got distracted with military miniatures, specifically Napoleonic war games. I think he went crazy painting mustaches on all those tiny soldiers. We see him maybe once a year at one of our club NTRAK setups.

Having been a hard core wargamer and ancient miniatures fan I completely understand your friends change in habits.

Yeah I've got a small 25 mm army and I hate to admit it... Lots of orcs and elves and stuff from back in the late seventies D&D days. (I gave away my 15 mm ancients.) Someday they'll be worth something, keep telling myself that, I'll send my daughter to college on the money I make on ebay with these things.
Oh yeah trains... train forum.. tooot toooot!

The military stuff can be quite a distraction. I have had a couple of severe episodes. WWII armor in OO, 1/76, 1/72..... But model railroading easily stays #1!!!!!!

Geeky, I don't know if you're in the market for a GM&O Kato SD40, but I randomly ran across one on ebay.

Where I get my Train Gear from they are not exactly Helpful... So if I have a Query , I post it on Trainboard and usually with in 20 minutes I have the Kind of Help I need..
Unlike so many Subjects, Model Trains seems to have no age limit...
Me Being a Spring Chicken have so many Questions and so much to learn I enjoy reading Posts by those who have been in the Hobby for so long and are able to show me what I am doing wrong and compliment me on what I have done right..
I wish to thank all on Trainboard especially those in the N-scale and Layout Sections for there Help and advise and I look forward to having this Hobby for the Next 50 or 60 years I have ahead of me....Although by then I will probably have aquired an N-scale MAGLEV train by then...

That's what it's all about David. Your attitude indicates you are not only mature, but you will fit in nicely with the majority of Trainboard members. We will be interested to see (by photos if possible) how your layout is coming along and what ideas you have for it. Thanks for the kudos. smile.gif
