You guys have some really cool steamers, and this is a fun topic to share what we have done with whatwe have to work with. I like Steam the best, but it's hard to do much with them, compared to Diesels which are easier.

Here is my Z Marklin Mikado. I modified it to look a little more like an NP mikado:

I did a Mike in N Scale before I switched to Z Scale:

I did no mods to this Marklin Mogul, other than painting it to represent an NP Mogul. I needed a more modern tender, so it is scratchbuilt too:

Here is an 0-6-0 Switcher I bashed out of a Marklin BR89, with another Marklin Mikado I modified behind it. The Mike got whitewall tires and a modified doghouse tender, and the 0-6-0 got a new cab, which is a failed attempt at hiding the huge motor. I really need a larger boiler to make the 0-6-0 look convincing. On another note I managed to get a DCC decoder installed in the 0-6-0:

Jürg First of all my appologises,I didnt see the Z scale part graemlins/220.gif these are N scale loco's.
Thanks Jurg,I just get a much info as I can gleen from colour pic;s of the acual loco's & go from there, usually do some lime weepage from valves & fittings, add a little rust to those parts & light weathering to suit.
Cheers.

Decal question for Pray59---Your locos look great, but I was wondering, where or how do you get the Northern Pacific decals small enough to fit on the small Z scale mogul tender? I myself have a turn-of the-century N-scale 2-8-0 and I'd like to put NP decals on its small tender, but it appears (from the web site at least) that the available N Micro-Scale decals are too big. How did you provide your locos with these tiny decals?

Then I paint a layer of Microscale Liquid Decal Film over the printing, and the decals are ready to be cut out and applied.

As far as N Scale decals, I just bought the Microscale NP Steam decals for my N Scale 2-8-0.
