Err... those are GP38s. Notice the bulge in the roof ahead of the dynamic brake section - the air filter, I believe.

But seriously - 2-bay PS-2s? That's one of the fright cars I thought Z needed most. Z continues to approach mainstream.

Hey Triplex, you do know they are coming out with a standard cab SD70 in Conrail colors.

just to be precise: the NEXT next release will be smokey the bear GP-35.

March release will be Chessie.

from the way they released F7s, it will 2008 before we ever see a Rio Grande GP. but that doesn't matter, because i know how to paint.! he he he.

David, You are right. I dismiss the idea of buying the Smokey before it is release. I bet Rio Grande gets release before CSX.

The title of this thread on the list of posts indicates that it is about MTL producing a two bay hopper, which is big news, especially considering that up to now the only two bay you could get cost $78. I do not think it is very considerate for people to carelessly change it into something about GP-35s. This Z-scale forum is not exactly "teeming" with threads; you know how to introduce a new thread---so why don't you? Also, you might try to learn to keep photo postings down to size so that the text of the thread doesn't become a chore to read.

Yes, I know about the SD70s. That's not on topic in this thread either.

I have allready edited the size of the Image. Sorry also for the GP38. I was thinking to show the Color Scheme.

i respect jay's opinion here. but i, personally, don't care whether the discussion gets off track or not.

what makes the release of new cars (modern era) so eventful, in my opinion, is the fact that we have an affordable 2nd generation Geep to pull them. i can't afford the AZL stuff right now, but maybe when their plastic bodied offerings come out i can obtain some.

i just celebrate all the good things coming along.

David, You are so right. Sometimes when we go on a tangent, you just have to go with the flow.

I can't find any pic's, but does anyone know if the Great Northern owned any of these? graemlins/headscratch.gif That would be a nice one on my rails! :D

GN 2-bay PS-2's existed... How many, what numbers? Beats me! They wore gray, and smaller Red/white/black Rocky heralds, and I think slant serif lettering.

Z and 2-bays.. Man, is my wallet in trouble...

Kadee did GN PS-2's in HO, so we know that they exist.

They keep a listing of everything they have done on their website (you might have to look in the "Sold Out" pages).

No, wait, I can do that...

Here we go, they did GN 71407 and GN 71470.

Turning to the ORER from January 1964, we have at least the series GN 71405 to 71504 for 100 cars. There could be other groups as well but based on the cubic footage listing of the other covered hoppers, maybe not.

Kadee gives a build date of 1958 for the cars.

Yeah, I got a few in the rough from him, and they look good. I used Dan Stripe's Grain Augar, and Searails truck for a grain truck, with Hobo Tim's Silo's in the background! I think the ATSF is a good choice for the initial release, don't you?
