Ther is a new Z Scale manufacturer coming on line in the next couple of weeks. His products have already been test marketed on ebay, and after emailing to question about an excellent grain elevator I wanted, I was replied by none other than Sgt. Tim himself.

If you are on the Yahoo Z list the name will be familiar, an accomplished Z modeler, his projects are outstanding. Now he is going to share some of his creations. graemlins/notworthy.gif

Tim, and Bill K. are setting up the website, and soon we will be able to get some much needed Z Scale products to help finish our layouts. :D

Here is the link, so go browse around and see what's coming down the line from TNT'z:

graemlins/222.gif WOW!! Ya, I was looking at those a couple hours earlier on E-pay and thought maybe they were N-scale. Really nice detail and all around better than your average Z stuff! graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the link. It is good to see products available for future expansion. I really like the photo section with the grain elevators. Some really great modelling ideas there!

I got my Grain Elevator kit's in from Sgt. Tim:

I also got extra silo's:

I am really impressed with the quality of the resin work and the etched brass. The resin work is so perfect and bubble free, that at first I thought it was not resin. The castings are very clean, and no lumps or waves are in any of the parts.

I am very happy with Tim's work, and plan on buying more of his stuff! :D

In Z, don't you think a 4750 could pass for a 4740? GN never had 4750's, but I want a few painted in Big Sky Blue...
And if Geep 35's come out in a reasonable enough price, I'll be all over that like a cheap suit!

The 4740 looks a lot like the 4750, except it's missing 2 side ribs and 10 cubic feet of capacity I think. I don't know about the length difference, but in Z, I will have to paint some up as NP 4750's and some as GN 4740's. :D

I have a photo showing a 4740 with 15 ribs and one showing 16 ribs? Which is the 4740?

You have to make your own, but I'll make you a deal... If you provide some closeups with reporting data for the GN 4740, I'll do the same for the NP 4750, and I'll send you a couple sets.

I have seen proto pictures of the 4740 in white or light gray, but only models painted in big sky blue. The white hopper is the one with Rocky on the left, and big sky has Rocky on the right. With the closeup I can trace Rocky and make it scaleable in Corel, for a more accurate look.

Robert, 4740's have 16 ribs and are almost identical to the 4750's - ie, same length.
The 15 rib hopper may be a copy of the PS2-CD. Several companies did knock-offs of that design, including Berwick Forge and Foundry and Ingolls Shipping to name two, for North American (NAHX).
The old Precision Masters cars were models of the copies.

Robert,
The only photos I have of the GN rocky BSB cars are in my copy of GN color guide to freight/passenger equipment.
