Made a start on the brass masters for a Z 5-unit spine car. Here it is alongside an N scale one for comparison.

Coming along nice! What about decals? Are you going to make your own? :D

Might be an idea to ask Microscale to do their spine car decals in Z. Although most of the lettering would be illegible! (A lot of it is in N) smile.gif

Just so long as there is a scribble where there should be, it will look great! :D

Hi Jim, It's about time you started visiting here!
Welcome to Trainboard! Now pull up a chair, and take a look at some of our recent Z Scale topics, and you will recognize much of what you see. :D

Masters are progressing well and the artwork for the platforms/steps/grabs have gone to the etchers.
Just wondering - are there any Z scale trailers available?

Not really a lot, but probably enough to get started with.. Micron Art has an etched brass trailer that is very nice, but I could not afford to own many. Arrowhead Scale Models makes some resin ones that are nice too, and may be the Models I choose for mine.
There are also some Herpa european looking ones, and Marklin has some too. The best bang for the buck comes from a line of 1/256 trailers made by Ertl that come up on eBay often, for around $7-15 dollars, and are painted up nice with tractor, but all in all, nothing is available in abundance, except possibly the Arrowhead ones.
The only thing about Arrowhead, is there website is gone, and I don't see any of their stuff on eBay this week. :D .

Thanks Robert. What sort of price were the etched brass ones? I was thinking of maybe doing some if there is a need.

Did you ever find the decal you were looking for? I can't wait to see the finished car. I just ordered some of the Arrowhead trailers off ebay, they are 25 footers, will they fit?

Not sure Robert, 28ft ones will so they may just make it (if not, you could move the hitch back a bit) ;)

Probably a good time for me to step in and say that I have pre-production samples of 28 foot parcel pups.
