What Era do you model?

It could be interesting to find out what the differences are between N and HO. I suspect that N scalers model more modern era stuff, than HO - I wonder . . .

My layout is just about the present, the only trouble is that the present keeps moving http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

My layout is a mix of both past and present, mostly the past.
Try to keep somewhat current with the railroads that run the old PRR mains thru Penna. Try to keep old and new separated with gentle scenery changes....
Have too many memories of the past to let it slip away and too much interest to ignore the present. Example: a string of open automobile carriers(with cars) vs. a string of container cars?

Mine is definitely mid forties to early fifties although some of my industries such as potash mining are more recent. Hobbiest licence eh! I like the steam era with roundhouses, coal towers and water tanks. The current operations interest me too with the CN mainline through Georgetown where I live. I cheat some saying the M.A.T. is from the steam era but the interchange with the CN and CP allows more modern consists.
As long as its fun, I don't mind.

Harold, I guess my chosen era is 'current', because my first major encounter with US railroads was 1998 with Matt and myself's trip to Tehachapi, Cajon etc. First impressions stick, eh?
Don't know if I will be ruthless enough in a few years time to 'retire' some of my now-favourite items, though. http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

MAXIMUM RAILROADING!

I'm an N-Traker, although my section is always "today", we see trains from all era's. But as I have stated before, I model the current BNSF with my own "home road" which is owned by BNSF, The Aransas Odessa & Western, reporting marks: AOW. I model the modern era by choice, not by what the manufactures make. Yes, I want more modern stuff, but there's always room for the old stuff too.

Yep, modern for me. Union Pacific, late 1990s. I'd like to get a challenger to run excursions with, I currently have the DD40. When I finally get a chance to settle down and have a basement empire, I'll still model right around Y2K, but change venue to CSX, which I currently railfan.

I chose to model the mid 1980's to present. I love the modern stuff. My layout is a fictious short line connected to the Norfolk Southern. It buys older diesels but occasionally purchases something brand new.

I model a the mid/late 80's to early 90's when many shortlines (freelance ones too) bought much used stuff like old Alco's, etc.
Besides, Guilford doesn't run an new equipment anyways!
