I have made a start on planting some fences around the various rail-served industries - too many HO thieves around.

Here's the fence around Spikres Bananas and a start made on the Chapmon Willis Coal Merchants.

Since the fence will go round the coal cells, I decided to 'deliver' the coal before erecting the fence, so as not to damage anything

The first 2 pics show fencing from the Walthers kit O L King Coal, cut into shorter lengths so they could ascend the grade, with the boards staying vertical.

The other fencing is by a firm known to us - Ratio Kits and is their kit for modern wooden fencing.

I did a bit more work on the fence around the coal yard, and painted up a couple of vehicles.

John:

the fencing and the new tree on that part of your layout looks great.

Who makes that tree?

Stay cool and run steam... graemlins/cool.gif

It's one of the new Woodland Scenics trees, made from sea foam and ready covered in foliage.

Jon, your attention to detail (and execution of the modelling of it) is superb graemlins/notworthy.gif graemlins/notworthy.gif

It's not just the excellence of the modelling for me but the ideas that spring to mind for my own layout as I examine each picture. Great.

Jon,
you know how to build scenery!

Here're a few more examples:

This fence bult my son Benjamin. You recognize the mistake?

And this is a video about the operating gate: Henry and operating gates (http://www.westportterminal.de/video/HenryGate.mov) (ca. 10 MB)

Nope, I cant see any mistake

By the way, nice video! I would love to have working gates on my layout....... but first I need a fence!

Matt, one hint:

if you zoom in and look at the fence. Think of the weathered prototype.

The barbed fence I've got from Walthers, Alloy Forms.

The fence weathering should be darker towards the bottom, not the top? :lightbulb:

And this happened when we did some scenery. The stained wood from the fence took water, the water flowed along the wood, like in a chromatograph. And the water took the stain to the top of the fence.

Jon and Wolfgang, you guys simply amaze me with your layouts. Outstanding modeling.

I liked the look of Wolfgang's upside down fence, although I didn't realise it, so that's what I did with mine too.
