Normally I model in N Scale, but I've been thinking of doing a small module in HO scale. I know nothing about HO scale and I've been wondering if there is an HO module standard similar to NTrak in N Scale. Numerous web searches have turned up nothing so far.

There is an NMRA standard, however I am not familiar with the measurements.

Everything you need is right here. Scroll down to the Module area and you're off & running. Have fun & good luck.

There're more groups like the European group FREMO. Look at
FREE-MO (http://www.free-mo.org/index.html)

Boxcab E50 Our local modular club is Ottawa Valley HOTrak - www.hotrak.ca (http://www.hotrak.ca)
Our standards have been developed over a number of years, and can be viewed on the web site (which is currently undergoing revision, so may be unavailable from time to time).
Are you wanting to make this truly modular (i.e. able to connect to any others built to a given standard), or are you just looking for info/recommendations on building a "module-like" diorama? Much of the lightweight construction advice in our standards is useful whether or not you intend to use the module with others like it...

I was interested in knowing if there were any standard modules that could be used in HO scale so that I could connect with other people should I desire. It seems that most clubs have their own standards for HO modules and that there are no standard module recommendations like NTrak or TTrak.
But now that you say diorama, maybe I should do that first, just to break myself in.

I think that the HOTrak standards are based on the NMRA standards, but we have made some modifications over the years.
If you generally follow the standards, in terms of track, wire gauge for electrical, etc, etc, you can always create a "transistion" module that will allow you to interface your standard modules with another standard.

Wolfgang also mentioned Free-Mo. Here in North America, I am noting it mentioned more, and more often. Certainly would be worth taking a look!
