scratchbuilding an MK cab

I have the measurements for an MK5000C cab in HO, now what to build it out of? I thought about styrene but not sure if it comes in different thicknesses, I have never done a project like this before. Any onehave any ideas?

Well I took the measurements given me and made a paper model. I think it looks pretty good for a first time. Now to turn it into plastic.
