Can you spot the baseboard joint between boards 1 and 2?

No? Try again.

I decided to hurry through the scenics on board 2 - here's how it looked at 10pm on Friday night.

Let's see how quick I can do something with it.

This is how it looked at 11.30pm with some Mod-Roc on. This is the scenic contour that matches board 1 (hopefully)

...and this is the retaining wall between 'Nelson's Break Room' and the bridge.

...........I wuz on a roll.
I filled all those little gaps between the cork sheets, placed sleepers/ties under the track joints, and spotted the coal merchant's trestle.
Then I ballasted everything and painted the plaster bandage scenery while watching the Fallen Flags video 'Chicagoland in the 60's and 70's'. Here's how it looked at 2.30am this morning.

Finally I temporarily places a couple of buildings to make sure the ballast didnt interfere with their bases.

It is still wet at 10am this morning so rail and sleeper painting will have to wait.

A slow start today due to having to get the weekly shopping in - did get to the LHS as I had run out of WS scenic glue for the ballast - yes I know it's just watered-down PVA glue, but it does work well.
Anyway heres the progress after a couple of hours work.
The bridges now have the decking in place and ballasted

The retaining wall is now painted and the embankment turfed

Nelson's is fixed down and I built a covered fire escape round the back - also useful for that quick getaway.

Next off is to finish the retaining wall and scenic the coal yard.

I'm sure glad I didn't join this race!! It has taken me about an hour just to figure which type of transformer pole to use at the Freeland Steel Tank Co. and I haven't even started putting it together yet! graemlins/220.gif

Here's what I got accomplished by 1am this morning. The coal yard is taking shape, the alley behind Nelson's is done but for the clutter, the ballast is mostly cleaned up and the rails are painted.

5.30pm - I married up boards 1 and 2 for the first time. The backscene will eventually stop the view through the building.
