spanish style roofing

has anyone tried scratchbuidling spanish style roof. i know a few styrene produce sheet for that but im wondering if theres a cheaper way to go

Actually there is a way to make spanish tiles for a roof. It takes time a lot of patiants....
You use those double pipe, side by side coffee stirrers. Split them length wise in half. Then cut the halves lengthwise. Now you have 4 half tube strips out of one stirrer. Cut them approx scale 2' long. Now turn one upside down and one right side up you will see they interlock the same way as spanish tiles do. And there about the correct scale for HO.
Or just get a sheet of spanish tile ...LOL
