As reported in the N scale forum, I made the momentous decision to change from N scale to HO scale.

As I work in N for a living, moving to HO steam era will mean that my spare time modelling will be a change, instead of a continuation of my daytime work smile.gif

I did model HO quite a few years ago, so this is a sort of homecoming for me, although the quality of available equipment is way ahead of those days.

I intend to build a small switching layout with as many industries as I can represent, with a bit of street trackage, but as a house move is planned, no decision on the layout will be made until I see what available space I have.

I want to have a few steam locomotives plus a few early diesels. The first steam loco purchase arrived today, a Spectrum 2-8-0, as I have one in N scale. See photos below smile.gif

Seems like that is the trend these days.

This last weekend I cleaned up my train room, removed ALL my N scale and have now just started thinking about a HO track plan for my 9x15' room. The reason I decided to change is because of steam and the better details. I just got my first fine scale kit (FOS Fenimore Coal) and are really looking forward to work in this scale.

last night I laid the track on a small 1.5x4' HO diorama that I decided to build while working on a track plan. It's hand laid C55 rail with a single #5 turnout. I only have a IHC steamer which is not as nice as the Bachmann you have there Allan, but it still looks nice sitting on C55 rails.

Did you get that Bachmann Consolidation with DCC and Sound?. I think I will have to order one, and would like the sound, but haven't decide yet if I "want" to pay the extra price.

Mine is a standard locomotive, no DCC or sound etc. But it was only £39.50 (around $74) which is very cheap here in the UK, so I am happy smile.gif

Oh well.

I think that's how things should go -- if you're tired of something, just stop doing it.

I am looking forward your new N scale products (hint hint -- how about a 3-unit spine car. I was looking at TTX's website and it appears that the 53' All-Purpose also run in 3-unit sets. That's something I'd go for since the 5-unit set is so long.)

:D :D

I will also look forward seeing your HO work which I am positive will be excellent.

I have recently acquired some more locomotives. Firstly a Spectrum 70 tonner (because I like the look of them), an Atlas Alco S1, and an hour ago another steam locomotive, a Spectrum "Russian" 2-10-0. I am also awaiting the imminent arrival of my first four freightcars from ModelTrainStuff smile.gif

Pictures later.
