Mike-
Don't let anything stop you. The skills for building a model RR are not hard to master. Read. Ask questions. Practice. You'll be surprised how quickly it all comes together.
Welcome!

Mike,
Welcome aboard! As said, feel free to ask questions, look around, say what you think, or plan, I'm sure someone here will be within reason of having a look na concern in it.... Questions only go as far as your own imagination! And to that, the only dumb question, is one not asked!
Again, WELCOME ABOARD! :D

May I add my welcome Mike smile.gif
If you browse past posts in the forums you will pick up a lot of great info/advice. Also take the time to browse some albums in railimages for inspiration!

Welcome to the club!
Don't worry, we all get inferiority complexes whenever Paul Templar makes his magic! (http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/13/t/001316.html)

Welcome aboard Mike! I have a feeling that you will enjoy your choice of hobbies. It is a very relaxing one. As the others have said, do not be afraid to ask a question and most of all, have fun! The world that you create is your own and anything goes!
Happy railroading!

Hi Mike, by your "handle," do you ride the tiller on a Seagraves Hook and Ladder truck as a firefighter? Just a guess. graemlins/223.gif

Welcome aboard, Mike. As suggested, browsing the board will give you plenty of ideas and how-tos. Pay a visit to the fora having to do with the full-sized stuff as well as the modeling material. You will find lots of pictures and discussions that just might help you with some elusive detail.

Mike, if you get a chance, visit the model rr club in Waybesboro PA. They model in N, HO, and O gauge, and their layouts are interesting. I visited there last summer and one thing in particular that impressed me was a lot of the structures that were on the O gauge layout. They were built by another firefighter from that area, This guy scratchbuilt all of these models of local prototype buildings from southern PA and Maryland. graemlins/222.gif

Hi welcome to the forum, I'm throwing a layout party in the layout design forum "working the layout..." There is four weeks left, so why not join in and commit to something small you know for sure you can accomplish in 4 weeks.
Also your forum moniker is interesting, where did it come from?
