Hello,
Just obtained one of these. I noticed that it has the same boiler as the Bach. Northern (w/extendable stack) Is there ANY kind of a Texas type that this resembles, or is this Walt Disney type fictional license.
Just a passing resemblence to a prototype Texas would satisfy me. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Denis

I don't know what "chugger" is. However, Santa Fe's "Madame Queen" and contemporary northerns shared same steam generating apparatus. So did latter CB&Q 'O's and 2-10-4s. Bachmann made models painted as all of these , using SF prototypes as loose bases for models involved.

Thanks PJB,
The "Chugger" was a marketing name Bach. applied to the 2-10-4, it had a sound system in the tender. It looks like SF's Texas. They used the same tender on their Northern, which is an accurate representation of a class 2900 4-8-4. It does look something like a CB&Q, minus the telescoping stack. Have to do more research. My 2-10-4 came with a NYC NIAGRA tender, with lettering & number to match the SF engine. The sound system is awful.

I got an old Texas 2-10-4 Chugger on E-Bay a while back. At first I was going to turn her into the T&P 610, but she is much bigger than the 610. I have instead decided to model her after the SF 5011 that sits at the Museum of Transport in St. Louis. Wrong tender but that can be fixed later. Mine doesn't run and that is fine, I removed the motor to make her a display engine. I can reposition her around my layout with another engine. I am having problems with the drivers locking up. Once that problem is solved, I'll build a set of stairs up to the cab, and put her on display on the layout.
