What track?

Yes, it's me again!!

I'm having a dilemma! I'm trying to choose between Peco Code 75 track and MicroEngineering Code 70. It seems Peco is the only manufacturer to make Code 75, so I was wondering if this would cause compatibility problems in the future if I decided to buy turnouts from another manufacturer. What track do you guys use, and which would you recommend?? I really like the Peco stuff (Insulfrog turnouts, etc), but also want to get compatible track.

i have always used Peco, on my new layout i am using Peco code 75, but 1 or 2 industries i will use microenginering code 55

i have joined code 75 to code 100 points by soldering the joints with no problems

You might have to shim a bit but i wouldn't know for sure as i've never handled the Peco Code 75...

I don't see how there will be much of a problem. I've had code 100 turnouts with my code 83 track (and I've been replacing the
100 with code 83 as I go), and I've seen no
problem. So, I don't see much of a problem between code 75 and code 70, as they're much closer that 100 and 83.
I've also used Peco code 100 turnouts with Atlas code 100 track, with no problems.

The only problem I've had was a Fleischman Loco that wouldn't run through less than code 100 turnouts. I went to code 83 and haven't regretted it.

I had a portable exhibition layout in HO for a few years (Belgian) and used Peco code 75 on this, but used Peco code 100 in the hidden staging yard, and had no problems whatsoever, after soldering the joints between the two track sizes. Indeed, I think Peco make rail joiners to join the two sizes! Dead easy http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif
