Painting Portals & Retaining Walls

I have the square cut stone tunnel portals and side retaining walls for a module. How would you paint them? I'm thinking gray, followed by washes of earth colors, then india ink staining. (area: lower Hudson Valley NY State) Your ideas? Thanks. Steve

I just came across your post, must have missed it earlier.

If you live in the area that you want to model. Go visit what you want to paint and copy it. If not, write the State Dept. of Tourism and ask for a visitor's kit. I'll bet with all their fancy glossy brochures they send, you'll find a picture that will be useful.
