Hi everyone,

Its been a while since I had a chance to log onto the train board and see what is happening. Things have been really busy at work, and I have been doing some business and vacation travel.

My home layout is progressing well. The track is all laid and I can operate trains.

My daughter is painting the backdrop. Its a little more spectacular than conventional wisdom would suggest is appropriate for a model railroad, but she is really excited and doing it before she leaves for college. I have decided that I like it, so I am not going to worry about conventional wisdom. I need to nag her into finishing before she leaves for college (out of state) in about a month.

I have completed two buildings for the layout, both from Lehigh Valley kits. I have a grain mill and a lumber yard ready to go when the backdrop is finished. I am also working on a third building, a factory.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

Hey Don, good to hear from you. Glad you are still working on the layout. I've been working a lot myself and bouncing back and forth from days to graveyard shift. Sure goofs the system up. If you get a chance, post some shots of the back drop at least. Great way of including the family.

Cheers,
Greg

Hi Don!

Glad you're still with us! graemlins/yippie.gif Look forward to seeing some pictures of your progress.

What did you finally choose for the layout plan? Still close to what it was when we last talked here?

:D

I'll take a handpainted work of art from my daughter over any conventional image any day of the week. Years from now you will have it with you as a great memento of her involvement in the layout. I hope we get to see pics of it when it's done.

I need to take a few digital photos of the backdrop and post them. Now that it is finished (my daughter completed it this weekend), it really looks good. She did a great job and I am really happy she did it for me.

I ended up with a large duck-under loop with some industrial sidings, an island to a small town, and a small yard. Its very much like the ideas we discussed a couple of years ago.

Need to get to a meeting now. More in the coming days and weeks.
