Hello to all my fellow S Gaugers. Its been a busy fall, and I have not had much time to post or to work on my layout. I spent a couple of weeks in Philadelphia at Six Sigma training (my new job is as a Six Sigma blackbelt), and marching band has kept us busy.
A friend once told me that the secret to model railroad progress was to find 15-20 minutes each day and just do something. We rarely have large blocks of time, but a little progress each day eventually adds up. I have followed his advice. It has taken 6 months, but my bedroom layout is now fully operational. I completed the last of the wiring work on Saturday. I connected my Digitrax system to the layout and successfully ran my one locomotive and handful of cars over all sections of the layout. Now that the trains are running, I can turn my attention to scenery. I hope to install the fascias over the holidays and to start painting some clouds and horizons on my backdrops. I am new to backdrop painting, so that should be an interesting experience. We will be gone most of the holidays on a cruise with our kids, so any progress will likely be the last few days around New Years weekend.
I hope all my fellow S Gaugers have a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
