Hello fellow S Gaugers,

Its been quiet in here the last few weeks. I assume that everyone else has been doing summer vacation stuff. At least that is what I have been doing.

I have started construction of my S Scale layout. Sorry Boxcab, I have not had a chance to sign up for rail images or to create a legible plan to post.

However, my benchwork lumber did arrive as promised last Saturday. Working over the 3 day holiday weekend and the last few evenings, I have completed the framing for the seven sections which I will haul upstairs from the garage and put together to form the layout. I also completed the first backdrop section. I only have 5 more backdrops to build and some painting before I assemble the basic lumber sections. I am doing the dirty carpentry work in the garage. I hope to be done in the next couple of weeks so we can put the cars back in the garage.

I ordered the track this week, and Scenery Unlimited has promised to ship it quickly. I am using code 100 Shinohara track and #6 turnouts. I also ordered some loconet cables and throttle plugs for my Digitrax system. I plan to install several plug in places around the layout.

I will not make much progress this weekend, as I am going with the boss to visit her mom. Sometimes, it is necessary to assure domestic tranquility, especially when the credit card bills show up for the lumber and track.

Hi Don-

Thanks for the update!

Not much happening here. Summer activities. Wife spending money on her doctor bills, and meds. The usual stuff that detracts from indoor hobbies.

Guess I'm sort of treading water. Waiting for the distractions to be gone. If ever.

Haven't heard from Greg lately. Last I heard, UP was keeping him very occupied.

Whenever you have something to share, by all means, please do!

:D

Howdy guys. As Boxcab said, "UP has been keeping me busy." I see a lot of things at work that give me ideas for modeling, but when the days off come, I'm too tired to do much modeling. Also, new hours means little time to interact with the family. Anyway, I am planning on playing with my switch jig soon. I found out I need to get some new solder and flux. Always something. :D

Cheers,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Interestingly enough, UP is keeping me busy at work these days. UP is our prime rail mover out of Houston. With the current, umhhh, situation in rail transportation, we are struggling to get stuff to customers and avoid shutting them down. I am helping our logisitics group with some short and mid term studies on various issues including how much railcar storage we need on site and remote.

I did not get much modeling done over the weekend, as we went to visit my mother in law. I think I should be on target to get the benchwork and backdrops installed in the bedroom before my daughter gets home from Barcelona on August 1. I did get a large box of Shinohara code 100 track in yesterday afternoon's UPS run through our neighborhood.

The tough part I've had with this and G Scale is the lack of D&H products.

:( :( :( :( :(

Stour,
Are you going to the train show here in Denver this weekend?
