It certainly looks like a "veteran" showing many years service. Of the C&NW diesel paint schemes, to me the Streamliners version was the classiest!

I cannot swear specifically to the C&NW. However, indeed switchers may have been equipped to MU. Depends on the RR, etc. There were also the factory built MU cow/calf sets of SW, NW, and TR from EMD.

For instance, the Milwaukee Road had SW's that could MU. (The Milw also had cow calf NW, SW, TR.) In fact, their most notable examples, were SW1's used on a couple of light rail branches in southern Minnesota. They'd MU four at a time to get enough horsepower for the trains. These units were nicknamed "Donkeys."

Boxcab you're right about the "classiest paintscheme" but this locomotive was bought from the scrapyard by my own company to switch the companies we serve.

It is no more C&NW graemlins/nono.gif graemlins/220.gif

When the locomotive is a bit :cool: adapted to my company I will post another photo.

Awesome job of weathering. I think my own Rio Grande SW9 needs some "clean-up" to eliminate that fresh from the box look. Now I have some real inspiration. Thanks
