OK. How close is my guess? I friend was asking me if I'd ever heard of a "Chicago, Lake Shore & Eastern" RR or RY. Seems vaguely that I have. And my guess was that it might have been an EJ&E predecessor? Anyone know for certain on this one?

Found this tonight...
Shortlines of Chicago Historical Society (http://www.dhke.com/schs/schs15.htm)
Chicago Lake Shore & Eastern - absorbed by Elgin Joliet & EasternEJ&E History (http://eje.railfan.net/page_history.html)
Another company that would form an important part of the EJ&E was the Chicago, Lake Shore & Eastern Railway.

graemlins/yippie.gif I was right! Can't recall where I'd heard of this previously. Guess I'd better check out those links!

The second link is indeed quite good. I've seen too many brief histories on the 'Net. And they are so vague as to have little value. This one is a very solid outline.
