Anyone on here, with access to histories of some smaller Michigan railroads? I'm seeking information, such as SPECIFIC dates for abandonment, merger, sale and name change, etc.

For one example, what happened to the Detroit & Mackinac RY? I don't see it in my 2002 Official Guide. Nor do I recall hearing it was abandoned. So, hopefully it's under a different name now? If so, when did this happen?

Have another question or two on other Michigan RR's.

Anyone?

:D

Information on the D & M here (http://www.railroadmichigan.com/dm.html)

This is one of the first North American railroads I saw, on a visit in 1985!

Alan-

That site had the exact date info I was hoping to find for the D&M! Now, if only I could be so lucky with other Michigan RR's. Think I'll dig deeper in those pages.....

Thanks!

An amazing number of links to Railroading in Michigan, Steven!

Way back in 1985 during our first visit over the pond to the USA (family holiday), we visited Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry Railroad, and had a trip down the line behind the Baldwin 2-8-0. During the trip we were attacked by desperado's on horseback ;) the kids loved it :D

Good to see a link to the railroad in the list. smile.gif
